Poker Party

I made these cupcakes for my grandmother's 75th birthday a couple years back.  She had a casino night birthday bash so I thought that these poker themed cupcakes would be just perfect.  They even make these cute poker sprinkles which I tried to order but unfortunately couldn't have shipped in time.  You can find them here at the Confectionery House.

Cherry Blossom Party

The cherry blossom is my most favorite-ist flower.  I have cherry blossom soap and cherry blossom lotion and cherry blossom scented candles.  I even have my jewelry collection hanging from cherry blossom branches.  Over time I have collected many pictures of cherry blossom inspired items so I decided to put together a cherry blossom party inspiration collage.  So pretty!

CRUMBS Bake Shop CUPCAKES

I absolutely love love CRUMBS cupcakes! I recently made some cupcakes last minute for a neighbor's graduation party and decided to decorate them, well... CRUMBY.  Although my version cannot compare to the goodness of Crumbs... they disappeared in a flash.  Here are a few photos of the short lived cupcakes.

HAPPY GRADUATION!

Our 4 year old recently graduated from preschool and in the spirit of all things graduation I am posting a tasty grad party project.  These cute little graduation caps are made out of peanut butter cups and chocolate bars.  Once again... the clever mind behind this creation belongs to none other than miss Bakerella herself.  You can find out how to make them here.

Of course there is also a cake pop version that can be custom made to the color of your choosing.  This is also an option for those of us who live peanut-free.  Our youngest is allergic to all things peanut... no nuts please!

Now That's a Bright Balloon!

Now this is a cute idea for a night time party.  I can just imagine lighting up my backyard with a bunch of these white balloons.  Legendary balloon entrepreneur Treb Heining recently brought these LED lit Mickey balloons to Disneyland's Electrical Light Parade.  You can see a really cool video of them on You Tube.  These color changing Mickey balloons are lit by a Light Up Balloon Stick and you can purchase them here.  If you're going for a simpler look, Balloon Brites offers a balloon light with the option of a fast blink, a slow blink, or a steady glow.  Glowing balloons? Now there's a bright idea!

A Yummy Project

I just came across these burger cupcakes and fries that are far more good looking than mine.  Bakerella created them of course and they were especially designed with Father's Day in mind.  Brilliant I tell you those sugar cookie french fries.  These sweet little meals would be fitting for any occasion.  You can find out how to make them here.

Elmo & Cookie Monster

I came across these cute cookie monster and elmo cupcakes awhile ago and I thought that a Sesame Street party theme would be really fun to do for a toddler.  I just can't get over the clever cookie monster and his chocolate chip cookie.  I think that I'll just have to make these one day for the fun of it.  What does it matter if my kids aren't into Sesame Street? Maybe they will be after they set their eyes on these guys...

The Comic Book Effect

Here is a fun effect that you can use to transform your photos into a retro comic.  You can achieve this transformation through using photoshop.  If I can do it... anyone can do it.  Believe me, I am the most photoshop challenged person on the planet! You can follow this easy to use tutorial found at PHOTOSHOP ROADMAP.  Now you can give your superhero party invites a really cool effect.  This would also be a really cute idea for father's day!  Why not make dad a personalized comic book of him and the kids?

Birthday Burger Cupcakes

Last year I wanted to make something for Antonio to take for his class on his actual birthday so I attempted to make these cupcake burgers.  I have to admit that they came out better than I had expected.  Instead of using a chocolate cupcake for the burger I made brownies and used a shot glass to make the little patties.  The buns and the fries are just yellow cupcakes.  Everything else is just colored icing... which my wonderful husband helped me pipe on.

Party Pictures...

I had this crazy idea that we could turn our garage into a whole cityscape within a couple of days... boy was I wrong.  I must have spent several hours on just one building while there were a few dozen to do.  Eventually this turned into a family project... with grandmas, grandpas, uncles, and aunties taking on a few buildings each.  In the end there were still a few buildings that were lacking windows and doors but hey, the party must go on...

SUPERHERO BIRTHDAY!

I made this invitation for Antonio's 4th birthday party.  For the past two years he has been into every superhero there is... from Spiderman to Wolverine... he loves them all.  Our trips to the grocery store consist of him getting into some super-spider-batman get-up and striking poses down the aisles.  Thus for his fourth birthday we found a superhero theme to be fitting.  We transformed our garage into a sort of Gotham City and put together a bunch of superhero themed games.  I'll be sure to post some party pictures over the week.
